YouTube Creator Music is a growing catalog of high quality music that creators can use in videos without losing monetization. Unlike the YouTube Audio Library, these songs are not actually free. Some songs can be licensed upfront, allowing creators to retain full monetization. Other songs may be eligible to share revenue with the track’s rights holders, so you don't have to pay any money upfront.
Right now this catalog is only available to U.S. streamers already in the YouTube Partner Program. Creator Music can be found on the left side in the dashboard. Once inside, you can browse music by artist, genre, and mood, or you can sort by the type of licensing available (with the main options being paying an upfront license fee or revenue sharing). All of the revenue sharing tracks can't actually be downloaded as you aren't buying the license, making it difficult to customize the music to match your video.
Unfortunately, paying upfront for music every time you post a video to YouTube can become extremely expensive, especially if you are posting multiple videos a week. Revenue sharing is also not the greatest choice, because if any of your videos go viral, you will be forced to split your revenues with the artist of the song you used in the video, even if the music was just simple background music.
